Welcome! I’m so glad you're here.
Kathleen’s Story & Practice
After Graduating from the Physical Therapy program at the University of Vermont in 1983, my journey in physical medicine began in Boston, Massachusetts, where I gained extensive experience working in acute critical care and pediatric physical therapy. During my time at Children’s Hospital Boston, I specialized in pediatric orthopedics and oncology, deepening my commitment to providing compassionate, individualized care.
After six years immersed in Boston’s fast-paced healthcare environment, I felt called to a different pace of life. In 1989, I followed my love of the outdoors to Boulder, Colorado. Drawn by the mountains, wide-open skies, and active lifestyle, I found a community that shared my passion for health, balance, and connection.
In Boulder, I continued to develop my skills in manual therapy, working at Avista Therapy Clinic and Boulder Orthopedics, where I provided orthopedic and sports medicine care for 19 years. I also made home visits for Children’s Hospital Denver, volunteered with Bryan Mountain Nordic Ski Patrol providing outdoor emergency care, and became a certified lifeguard and water safety instructor.
Moving Toward Integrative Care
In 2008, I opened my own physical therapy practice. Many clinics were shifting toward shorter, productivity-driven sessions, which made it harder to provide the focused, comprehensive care I knew people needed to heal. By starting my own practice, I created the space to slow down, listen deeply, and offer longer, hands-on sessions personalized to each client’s unique needs.
I specialize in Integrative Manual Therapy (IMT)—a gentle, holistic approach that works with the body’s innate capacity to heal. IMT allows me to assess and treat dysfunction in the structural, visceral, cranial, vascular, and nervous systems in an integrative and comprehensive way. My work draws on techniques such as Muscle Energy Technique, Strain Counterstrain, Craniosacral Therapy, Visceral Mobilization, and Autonomic Nervous System Regulation.
Energy Body & Physical Body Integration
In addition to hands-on bodywork, I work at the interface of the energy body and the physical body. My understanding of energetic anatomy, combined with training in Core Synchronism and other energy-based modalities, allows me to support balance and communication between these systems. I often integrate this energetic work with IMT to create a deeper, more comprehensive healing experience.
Supporting the Nervous System & Emotional Regulation
I believe the nervous system plays a vital role in the healing process. Over the years, I’ve pursued additional training in Psych-K, Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), Applied Polyvagal Theory, Mindfulness, Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), Somatics, and Interpersonal Neurobiology. These approaches help clients regulate their nervous system, release stored stress and trauma, and foster greater resilience and ease in their bodies and lives.
Functional Medicine Coaching
I also offer Functional Medicine Coaching as an additional resource for clients who are interested in exploring the root causes of chronic health challenges. I completed my training through both Functional Medicine Fast Track and the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, and I am currently continuing my studies with the School of Applied Functional Medicine to deepen my knowledge and expand the ways I can support clients in their health and wellness journeys.
Through functional medicine, I provide personalized guidance to help clients explore nutrition, lifestyle shifts, and holistic strategies that support long-term vitality and overall well-being.
Life Beyond the Clinic
When I’m not working with clients, you can often find me spending time with my husband Scott and our sweet labradoodle, Atticus. I love skiing, hiking, biking, and gardening—whether in the foothills of Boulder, Colorado, or along the beautiful coastlines of Port Townsend, Washington. Splitting time between these two places brings me balance, inspiration, and connection, all of which I bring into my work with clients.
I’m grateful for the opportunity to walk alongside people on their healing journeys. With curiosity, compassion, and deep listening, I aim to support each person in moving toward greater health, vitality, and a renewed sense of possibility.
